Resumo O presente artigo trata dos varangos de Bizâncio, um corpo de guerreiros mercenários constituído por escandinavos nos séculos X e XI, e da sua repercussão na literatura islandesa dos séculos XIII e XIV, mais especificamente nas Íslendingasögur (“sagas de islandeses”). Faz se uma exposição sobre as sagas islandesas e então são dados exemplos das Hrafnkels saga, Laxdoela saga e Grettis saga.
