The geographic distribution of a small rare fish in the family Characidae (subfamily Stevardiinae) Rhinopetitia potamorhachia Netto-Ferreira; Birindelli; Sousa & Menezes 2014, which was only known for its type locality in Rio Teles Pires (limits of Pará and Mato Grosso States), an area significantly affected by the construction of one hydroelectric plant. Currently the specie was found with endangered status according to the Brazil Red Book of Threatened Species of Fauna.
