Geographic tongue in children

Background: Geographic tongue is the most common tongue anomaly. Generally, geographic tongue does not induce any complaint and disturbing symptom. Geographic tongue when it occurs in children, will rise to fear and anxiety in parents. Purpose: Reporting a pediatric patient with complaints of the formation of white lines resembling a map of the tongue. The diagnosis is geographic tongue. Case: A nine-year-old female patient came with chief complaints of anxiety to have formation white lines like a map in her tongue, without complaining of pain sensation. Case Management: Diagnosis was established based on history taking, clinical examination. Firstly the patient underwent an observation. Once in in a week the patient came to have check up and ongoing process was observed. Conclusion: Geographic tongue is uncommon symptom of the tongue, caused by desquamation of filiformispapillae. Geographic tongue generally only temporary, especially when the body resistance decreases
