The origin of ageist behavior is unidentifiable. Whether it develops as a result of an unpleasant encounter with an older person, lack of knowledge or contact with the population, or from conforming to social stereotypes and stigmas of Western individualist cultures, the damage caused by ageism is definite. Quality of care is compromised when ageist beliefs begin to affect job performance within the nursing home setting. The objective of this research was to further investigate the effects of these beliefs on patient satisfaction with their overall care.
