Intrapulmonary lymph node mimicking a pulmonary metastasis associated with adenocarcinoma on high resolution computed tomography (HR-CT) findings

The widespread use of chest CT has increased the detection of small nodules in lung, and intrapulmonary lymph nodes are identified frequently among them. We report a case of intrapulmonary lymph node mimicking a pulmonary metastasis associated with adenocarcinoma. The patient was a 60-year old woman with a small nodule that was round shaped and existed subpleural portion of left upper lobe distant from primary adenocarcinoma. She underwent surgery, and histological examination of resected material revealed that the small nodule was composed of lymph node without malignant cell. Intrapulmonary lymph nodes (IPLN) should be included in the differential diagnosis of small nodules in the peripheral lung field.journal articl
