Some Remarks on the Archeological Placing of the Phaistos DiscDuring the excavation of the Old-Cretan palace in Phaistos the Italian excavators uncovered in 1908 a remarkable clay disc, which has since been the subject of much scientific discussion (Pl. IV-V). The circular disc bears on both sides a spiral inscription, and numberless attempts have been made to decipher these texts, which each consist of about 30 words.
