Accreditation is important in higher education because it compels institutions to demonstrate to the public that the education they are providing is of high quality. In 2013 the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) updated its standards and identified five standards, which must be met by institutions in order to receive CAEP accreditation. The purpose of this study is to conduct a secondary analysis of existing data provided by the Professional Education Unit at The College at Brockport, SUNY to assess the extent to which CAEP standard 1 is being met.
