The Importance of a Positive Teacher-Student Relationship and Its Impact on Student

A strong, meaningful teacher-student relationship plays an important role not only in the academic success and achievement of students, but also in the shaping of the students’ overall lives. Studies have been conducted over the years pertaining to the concept of the teacher-student relationship and how such a relationship has become an imperative part in the teaching of today’s learners. This study and research investigates the nature of the teacher-student relationship, its importance in today’s classroom environment, the possible educational actions that may strengthen said relationship, and the positive outcomes that may result from it. This study reflects on the personal accounts of a few students and their actual experiences in which a positive relationship with their teachers have influenced their lives for the better. In order to support such ideas, students have been interviewed and their responses have been recorded and analyzed using a narrative approach. It is the intention of this study to gain a better understanding of the teacher-student relationship, how it affects student learning and motivation, and to see what can be done in order to improve what teachers can do to strengthen their relationships with their students and positively influence their students’ lives in the future
