“The Church of the Virgin above Ushgul. The church had a twelfth century bible. To go into the church required that the three men in charge of the church be present when the door was unlocked and opened. I leafed through the bible and in the margins there were notations in ancient Georgian, from about A.D. 900. Only the priest could read it.
