ABORTAS KAIP SOCIALINĖ PROBLEMA: PREVENCIJOS POREIKIO ASPEKTAS

The paper analyses the phenomenon of abortion both from the theoretical aspect and empirically analysing the reasons for choosing abortion by a group as well as the need for prevention. The statistical data confirm that the problem of abortion is pertinent to Lithuania therefore it is important to dedicate the appropriate attention. In some EU states the complex assistance (psychological, social, juridical, and material) to pregnant women, who find themselves in a crisis and intend to terminate the pregnancy, is legitimized and it can be an example of good practise for our country. The empirical research has shown that there is a necessity of both primary and secondary prevention, i.e. sexual education of both children and adults and overall counsel-educative assistance, as well as the need for complex services to the family.KEY WORDS: abortion, social, educational and psychological help, sexuality education, prevention, pre-abortion counselling
