In this article the problem of the Lithuanian noun susirgimas, which is used in the meaning of “a disease”, “a process of ailing”, “a beginning of ailment”, “a case (number of cases) of disease”, is analyzed. According to the factual examples collected from various sources of different functional styles, the real modern use of the Lithuanian noun susirgimas is presented. The most frequent use of the meaning is detected, the meanings that are evaluated or not evaluated in normative publications are stated, tendencies of standardization of this noun as a term are noticed and various possibilities of evaluating them are described.
