Airtightness of Energy Efficient Buildings

The paper deals with the energy performance ofbuildings with regard to the requirements of Directive2010/31/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19May 2010 on the energy performance of buildings. One of thebasic principles of energy efficient buildings is perfectly airtightenvelope of buildings. Untightness leads to uncontrolled airexchange and increased heat loss. The objective of the paper is tocharacterize and analyze the airtightness of energy efficientbuildings. The analysis is performed on a sample ofmeasurements of energy efficient buildings in the CzechRepublic. The sample consists of 50 new buildings built between2007 and 2011.
