Este artigo analisa as lutas sociais na Bolívia em 2008, quando o país entrou em uma guerra civil provocada pelo movimento de separação das províncias do Leste, ameaçando o governo do presidente Evo Morales. Destaca que as intervenções das entidades ligadas às classes sociais dominantes das províncias do Leste e o papel dos EUA como articulador desse processo ameaçam não apenas a soberania da Bolívia, mas dos diversos países latinos que no momento aplicam políticas de governo que entram em choque com o neoliberalismo.
