January 24, 1938. Cairo, Egypt: The Giza pyramids. These are the largest of all the pyramids. They have been badly desecrated over the centuries by marauding groups that have ransacked their interiors to rob the gold and jewels and by builders who have almost completely removed the smooth marble (or granite?) slopes.
