According to statistics, large numbers of high school students give up the study of Latin after one or two years. The difficulties and lack of utility in the study of Caesar, Cicero, and Virgil are assigned as the causes. A course in Sacred Scripture offered during the first or second years would not only help students develop facility in translating Latin into English, but would also give them matter which would be of real value later in life. Such a course would also serve as an excellent preparation for the study of the classical writers. This vocabulary contains all the words, with certain exceptions, which appear in the Gospel according to St. Luke. Greek words, proper names, prepositions, and conjunctions are omitted
