La différenciation spatiale de l'intégration régionale en Europe centrale et orientale

International audienceThe integration of Central and Eastern European countries into the European Union has led to a profound change and significant restructuring of regional economies. However, the process is far from being successful in some “shrinking” regions which combine backwardness in infrastructure and in economic terms lined with a demographic decline. In this context, this paper attempts to show the uneven integration of Central and Eastern Europe regions using spatial analysis (spatial autocorrelation and geographically weighted regression). The results show that there is a strong spatial variability of regional integration. The latter is particularly advanced in metropolitan regions and areas near the border of the EU-15 Member States. In contrast, regions on the fringe of the European integration are located further to the East.L’intégration des pays d’Europe centrale et orientale dans l’Union européenne a entraîné un profond bouleversement et une restructuration importante des économies régionales. Or, le processus est loin d’être abouti pour certaines régions « en décroissance » qui cumulent des retards en infrastructures et en termes économiques doublés d’un déclin démographique. Dans ce cadre, cette communication tente de montrer l’inégale intégration des régions d’Europe centrale et orientale à l’aide de l’analyse spatiale (autocorrélation spatiale et régression géographiquement pondérée). Les résultats montrent qu’il existe une forte variabilité spatiale de l’intégration régionale. Cette dernière est particulièrement avancée dans les régions métropolitaines et celles situées à proximité de la frontière de l’ex-Europe des Quinze. À l’opposé, les régions en marge de cette intégration européenne sont davantage situées à l’Est
