EVALUATION OF TEACHING PRACTICE PERFORMANCE OF STUDENTS OF SECONDARY MATHEMATICS EDUCATION BY USING FUZZY LOGIC Ayşe ÖCAL ABSTRACT With the developments in science and technology the areas in which the “Fuzzy Logic Approach” has been used have expanded. The concept of fuzzy set was first defined by Zadeh in 1965.The “Fuzzy Logic Approach”, which has been used in various fields and has produced effective results, has also been applied in the field of education similarly. The purpose of this study, to investigate the use of “Fuzzy Logic Approach” in the evaluation process of performance, to evaluate teachers that took the Teaching Practice Course at the Department of Maths for Secondary Education by fuzzy logic, to compare these results obtained with results obtained by conventional method and to present positive and negative sides of these methods in terms of evaluation. In this study, the prospective teachers that took the Teaching Practice Course at the Department of Maths for Secondary Education, at Hacettepe University, in the Spring Term 2013-2014 academic year participated in the study. Their performance was evaluated first classic approach and then using the “Fuzzy Logic Approach”, considering the criteria in the teaching practice assessment form and the results have compared. Result data were tested by Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test in SPSS. Belirtisiz Küme kavramı 1965 yılında Zadeh tarafından tanımlanmıştır. Bilim ve teknolojide birçok farklı alanda kullanılarak etkili sonuçlar elde edilen belirtisiz mantık yaklaşımı, son yıllarda eğitim alanında da uygulanmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı; başarı değerlendirme süreçlerinde, belirtisiz mantık yaklaşımının kullanımını incelemek, ortaöğretim matematik öğretmenliği öğrencilerinin öğretmenlik uygulaması başarılarını belirtisiz mantıktan yararlanarak değerlendirmek, belirtisiz mantık yaklaşımıyla elde edilen sonuçlar ile geleneksel yöntemle elde edilen sonuçları karşılaştırmak, bu yöntemlerin değerlendirme açısından olumlu ve olumsuz yönlerini sunmaktır. Çalışmada, H.Ü. Eğitim Fakültesi Ortaöğretim Fen ve Matematik Alanlar Eğitimi Bölümü (OFMAE) Matematik Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı’nda, 2013-2014 öğretim yılı bahar döneminde, Öğretmenlik Uygulaması dersini alan öğretmen adaylarının başarıları öğretmenlik uygulaması değerlendirme formundaki kriterlere göre önce geleneksel yöntemle daha sonra "Belirtisiz mantık" tan yararlanılarak değerlendirilmiş, sonuçlar karşılaştırılmıştır. Puanlar SPSS programındaki Wilcoxon İşaretli Sıralar Testi kullanılarak test edilmiştir. Belirtisiz mantık yöntemiyle hesaplanan başarı puanlarının geleneksel yöntemle hesaplanan başarı puanlarından daha yüksek olduğu, puanlar arasında anlamlı bir fark olduğu görülmüştür
