Dąbrowa Górnicza is the largest city in the Silesian Voivodeship in terms of surface area. It is also the greenest area of Silesia and the Dąbrowa Basin. Its name comes from oak forests growing there in the past, hence the presence of green acorns in its coat of arms, next to the crowned eagle and a hammer. This paper discusses the geographical location of the city, its administrative affiliation, the most important events in its history, historical monuments, religious sites, water reservoirs, green areas and a variety of recreation, sports and tourist facilities.
