La Tradición Conchera (Conchero tradition), often used synonymously with Danza Azteca (Aztec Dance), has profound and complex roots connected to both an indigenous and colonial trajectory. This article presents a concise map of this history and the ties to the Catholic Church, which has been both a process of syncretism and synergy. The syncretism of Indigenous world views with the Catholic Church has had elements of preservation and decimation as demonstrated within the complex history of Danza. This article focuses on the Post-Cuauhtémoc origins of Danza (dances) and its relationship with the Church, State, and Indigenous communities
