A plane strain tensor is introduced for the driving wave process of martensitic crystal growth. A case in which the wave vectors of the driving waves belong to the {110}c planes of the initial cubic phase is analyzed. It is demonstrated that for the quasi-longitudinal waves the relationship between the strain and the wave velocity cannot be reduced to their direct proportionality.
