Variants of initiation of growth of crystals of a-martensite by couplcs of clastic waves propagating in directions 〈001〉γ and 〈110〉γ in singles crystals of Fe3 INi are suggested. The dynamic theory is used to show that the expected orientations of habit planes {110}γ, {001}γ and {559}γ differ from the typical {31015}γ. Possible features of tetragonality of martensite crystals arc discussed. The power of the sources of ultrasound required for initiation of γ - α martensitic transformation is estimated. © 2016 Springer Science + Business Media New York
