Gestão de custos na produção de milho e soja

Purpose – This research aims to identify and analyze the relationship between the elements that make up maize and soybean production costs and the revenue earned from the respective productive activities. Design/methodology/approach – We used production cost data from Conab and the market price of maize and soybean obtained from FAO in our analyses. These data were analyzed from 1997 to 2016. The study is based on the Neoclassical Theory of Firm and its subdivision: Cost Theory. Findings – The data showed that the variables related to the production costs of maize and soybean are associated with the gross revenue ha-1. Therefore, it is possible to predict them from the regression equations. Based in these findings, farmers will have a tool that may be used in making of the best decision when they purchase agricultural inputs. Originality/value – The main contribution of this paper relates to the possibility to predict maize and soybean revenue from the cost variables that are part of the production cost of these commodities. In this context, an interpretation of production costs, analyzing the variables involved in the cost of the crops, and with a consequent evaluation of the information on the gross revenue ha-1, enables information to be obtained for decision-making regarding the agricultural activities.Objetivo – O estudo tem por objetivo identificar e analisar a relação entre os elementos que compõem os custos de produção do milho e da soja com a receita das suas respectivas atividades produtivas. Metodologia – A análise foi realizada com os dados de produção e custo de produção da Conab; e do preço de mercado das commodities obtido pela FAO. O período de análise compreendeu os anos de 1997 a 2016. O estudo foi construído sob o enfoque da teoria neoclássica da firma e sua subdivisão: a teoria dos custos. Resultados – Os dados evidenciam que as variáveis pertencentes aos custos de produção do milho e da soja estão associadas com a receita bruta ha-1, sendo possível predizê-las a partir das equações de regressão. Desse modo, o produtor rural terá uma ferramenta passível de uso na escolha da melhor decisão no momento da aquisição de insumos agrícolas. Contribuições – A principal contribuição do estudo está relacionada à possibilidade de predizer a receita da soja e do milho a partir do custo das variáveis que fazem parte do custo de produção das respectivas commodities. Assim, o levantamento e a interpretação dos custos de produção, analisando as variáveis que envolvam os gastos do custeio da lavoura, com consequente avaliação das informações da receita bruta ha-1, possibilita obter informações para a tomada de decisão sobre as atividades agrícolas
