Additive manufacturing has allowed to manufacture parts in a faster way compared to a traditional manufacturing process. This has enabled to the new product introduction departments (NPI) of industrial organizations to use these non-traditional processes to streamline the design and product development process. However, the structural and functional behavior of 3D printed prototypes has not been completely analyzed as to replace in a safe way a part manufactured with traditional processes by a 3D printed part.
