The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of sludge dehydration on the physicochemical characteristics of these by-products and the biological activity of microorganisms. It was determined that after five months of drying, the organic carbon concentration decreased, metals remained below the permissible limit and nitrogen and total phosphorus remained constant. The decrease in mesophilic, fungal and amylolytic aerobes of seven, six and one logistic units of CFU/g was evidenced, respectively. The presence of cellulolytic microorganisms and phosphate solubilizers was <10 CFU/g.
