Fatores associados à insatisfação com a imagem corporal em bailarinos profissionais

Concern about body aesthetics in dance related to dissatisfaction with body image (BI). The objective of this study was to investigate the dissatisfaction with BI and to verify that factors are specifically associated to the dissatisfaction for thinness and overweight in professional dancers of both genders. The study was attended by 181 professional dancers (54.1% female and 45.9% male), with a mean age of 24.36 years, from the main dance companies in the south and southeast of Brazil. A self-administered questionnaire was used, in which the dancers answered questions about general and anthropometric information (BMI), BI (silhouettes scale), eating disorder (EAT 26). Non-parametric descriptive and inferential statistics (chi-square test and multinomial logistic regression) were used, adopting a significance level of p≤0.05. The results indicated that the prevalence of dissatisfaction with body image was 60.8%, and the proportion of body dissatisfaction was higher due to overweight (45.3% dissatisfied with excess weight) among professional dancers. Significant associations of overweight dissatisfaction with the female gender (OR: 3.79), the classical dance (OR: 3.79) and the presence of TA symptoms (OR: 3.83) were found. Likewise, there were significant differences between the dissatisfaction with the leanness in the study and the age group (OR: 3.40). It concluded that the investigated dancers presented dissatisfaction with their body image, being associated to age when dissatisfied by thinness, and to gender, dance style and TA symptoms when dissatisfied with being overweight.A preocupação com estética corporal presente na dança está relacionada à insatisfação com imagem corporal (IC). O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a insatisfação com a IC e verificar que fatores se associam especificamente à insatisfação pela magreza e pelo excesso de peso em bailarinos profissionais de ambos os gêneros. Participaram do estudo 181 bailarinos profissionais (54.1% feminino e 45.9% masculino), com média de idade 24.36 anos, das principais companhias de dança do sul e sudeste do Brasil. Utilizou-se um questionário autoaplicado, em que os bailarinos responderam a questões sobre informações gerais e antropométricas (IMC), imagem corporal (escala de silhuetas), transtorno alimentar (EAT 26). Utilizou-se a estatística descritiva e inferencial não paramétrica (teste do Qui-quadrado e regressão logística multinominal), adotando-se nível de significância de p≤ 0.05. Os resultados apontaram que a prevalência de insatisfação com a imagem corporal foi de 60.8%, sendo maior a proporção de insatisfação corporal foi por excesso de peso (45.3% insatisfeitos pelo excesso de peso) entre os bailarinos profissionais. Foram encontradas associações significativas da insatisfação pelo excesso de peso com o gênero feminino (OR: 3.79), a dança clássica (OR: 3.79) e a presença de sintomas de TA (OR: 3.83). Da mesma forma, foram verificadas diferenças significativas entre a insatisfação pela magreza no estudo e a faixa etária (OR: 3.40). Conclui-se que os bailarinos investigados apresentaram uma insatisfação com sua imagem corporal, estando associado à idade quando insatisfeitos pela magreza, e ao gênero, estilo de dança e sintomas de TA quando insatisfeitos pelo excesso de peso
