La técnica de espray con estiramiento en el tratamiento del dolor miofascial producido por los puntos gatillo miofasciales: Revisión bibliográfica

Introduction: Myofascial pain has a high prevalence and is a frequent reason for consultation in health services. Myofascial pain syndrome produces important alterations in people who suffer from it, negatively affecting their quality of life. The myofascial trigger point is defined as a hyperirritable localized region that corresponds to a palpable nodule located within a muscular tense band. The area presents pain to the pressure and can radiate a characteristic pain. The Spray and strecth is considered one of the fundamental techniques in the treatment of myofascial pain syndrome. Objective: to explore the scientific evidence of the spray and stretch in the treatment of myofascial pain syndrom (MPS). Search strategy: The publications in the different databases are reviewed assessing the characteristics and the applications of the stretch spray technique. Selection of studies: Review articles, originals and experimental studies were selected. Synthesis of results: There is clinical evidence of the beneficial effects of the spray and strecth in patients with myofascial pain syndrome. The combination of different techniques is generally more effective than the use of a single treatment modality. Among the non-invasive manual therapies, the ones that have the greatest effect in the treatment of myofascial pain are the release by pressure and the spray and stretch. Conclusions: It is essential to continue carrying out future clinical trials that determine the real effectiveness of these therapies.Objetivo: explorar la evidencia científica de la técnica del espray y estiramiento en el tratamiento del síndrome de dolor miofascial (SDM). Estrategia de búsqueda: Se revisan las publicaciones en las diferentes bases de datos valorando las características y las aplicaciones de la técnica del espray con estiramiento. Selección de los estudios: Se seleccionaron artículos de revisión, originales y estudios experimentales. Síntesis de resultados: Existe evidencia clínica de los efectos beneficiosos de la técnica de espray con estiramiento en pacientes con síndrome de dolor miofascial. La combinación de diferentes técnicas es en general más efectiva que la utilización de una sola modalidad de tratamiento. Al parecer, entre las terapias manuales no invasivas, las que presentan mayor efecto en el tratamiento de dolor miofascial son la liberación por presión y el espray más el estiramiento. Conclusiones: Es esencial continuar realizando futuros ensayos clínicos que determinen la eficacia real de estas terapias
