Electrical power generation employing wave energy converters (WECs) incorporating linear generators (LGs) made of traditional steel core material results in large amount of core loss. In this context, a new direct drive linear generator (DDLG) with reduced core loss is designed using high grade magnetic cores. The numerical model of the designed LG is introduced in an explicable way. The simulation task is carried out in ANSYS/Maxwell software environment with DI-MAX HF-12, DI-MAX HF-10, and typical iron as the core materials. Analyzed results of electrical output parameters as well as magnetic properties such as transient magnetic flux density, magnetic flux intensity and the most expected core loss are demonstrated.
