One definition of motivation is, the forces within a person that affect his or her direction, intensity, and persistence of voluntary behavior. Although that does not mention monetary rewards, managers and leaders often believe that the best way to motivate others is by throwing money at them. This is simply untrue and the focus of this research presentation will be how to motivate others when you are not able to use money as a reward, because money is not always able to play a role in motivating employees.
