For my special studies paper this semester, I have chosen as my subject a topic about which I was totally in the dark--The Role of the Negro in American History. The sad part was that I wasn\u27t even aware that I didn\u27t know anything about this topic. In fact, I didn\u27t even know there was such a topic. Before my sudden awakening to the highly significant role that the Negro has played in molding our history, I thought that the one and only intelligent Negro was George Washington Carver; after all, he was the only one mentioned in any of my history books.
