According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the last 30 years, obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents. Since 1980 the percentage of children aged 6-11 years in the United States who were obese increased from 7% in 1980 to 18% in 2012. The purpose of the research was to collate, analyze, and compare body mass index (BMI)-for-age percentile results of children participating in a summer nutrition research program in Arkadelphia, AR, with the BMI-for-age percentiles of children in Arkansas, the United States and worldwide.
