A large number of Wooster faculty have signed a petition to implement stricter regulations concerning smoking on campus, due to fears of passive smoke. This year, the Wooster Forum, a key part of First Year Seminar, will focus on the topic of discrimination. This is a direct result of student protests that took place in April of 1989, which were likely spurred by the January police killing of an American African motorist and subsequent riots. The yearly celebration of Bacchanalia will take place off campus and will feature beer and several bands.
