He is a Doctor of the Church and is greatly studied, particularly by priests. Saint Rose of Lima (1586-1617) is known for her care of the sick and needy, and was the first person born in the Americas to be canonized. Saint Catherine of Siena (1347-1380) is one of the patron saints of Italy and a Doctor of the Church. Saint Dominic (1170-1221) founded the Dominican order.
