This essay examines the legacy of Pope John Paul II. With reference to his biography and Vatican II, and exploring such concepts as salvation and practical theology, I will contend, with the help of his book Crossing the Threshold of Hope that John Paul II should not be considered radical or revolutionary in his field. Rather, I contend that Pope John Paul II was a conservative thinker and traditional in his theological practices because of the precedent offered by the Second Vatican Council
