This thesis explores the roles of women in Disney movies. In order to complete the study a review of current literature and theories was first completed followed by the actual study. The method used for this study is content analysis. The Disney animated movies were split into three time periods roughly twenty years apiece. Then all of the women in each of the movies was put into categories based on her character and behavioral traits as well as how often she was pictured in the movie. The results showed that the women generally fit into three major categories, and these categories are emphasised in almost all of the movies.
