My research of the expatriate experience in Paris is categorized by three main themes: an analysis of space, the Americanization of the city and the difference between expatriates and visitors. The subject is divided into an analysis of white male expatriate authors (Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald) and the various ways they were affected by the city. The second topic analyzes the African American expatriates, which is a much different experience
