Lachish, during the Iron Age, stood as the most important city in Judah after Jerusalem. The main goal for these past four expedition was to reach Level IV and Level V. These are the levels dating to the 9th and 10th centuries. It had been hardly excavated by previous expeditions but were very important to establish whether the kingdom of Judah actually was expanding to Lachish. Also whether Rehoboam, Solomon\u27s son, rebuilt the city the way the Bible describes in Chronicles.
