Haydn\u27s piano sonatas comprise a body of music which contains technical and stylistic demands designed to challenge intermediate piano students as well as advanced performers. This paper will address the historical background of the Sonata No. 59, including biographical information of Haydn\u27s employment at the Esterhazy estate. Special attention to sonata form and performance practices of Sonata No. 59 will be included in this study
