This study examined the prevalence of postpartum depression in a pediatric emergency department. Almost 1 in 6 women enrolled met criteria for increased risk of PPD, as determined by the EPDS. The mother\u27s view of her infant\u27s temperament was associated with a positive screen. The EPDS anxiety subscale (EPDS-3), depression subscale (EPDS-7), and mini-screen (EPDS-2) were found to have excellent sensitivities relative to the full scale. The screening process demonstrated a high level of acceptability among women. Follow-up assessment showed that many mothers experiencing depressive symptoms utilized community or family members for support
