The appeal to ancient texts authorizes specific forms of behavior and gender hierarchies within religious groups today. The focus of this research is to understand the influence that particular ancient sacred texts have on the roles women perform within different religious organizations. The project considers four (4) contemporary Christian readings relating to women. The distinctive interpretations of these passages play an important part in establishing how women’s roles are defined in a variety of Christian churches. By correlating the analysis to the respective communal guidelines, the participation of women within each can be determined
