The Effects on Cellphone Use to Face-to-Face Interaction

The Purpose of the Research: The purpose of the research is to analyze how the effect on cellphone use can cause a negative outlook on face-to-face interaction in classrooms, families, and the young/older generation. The Scientific or Scholarly Rationale: Cell phones have become apart of a daily routine to the human race and are being seen as a distraction through parents and Professors eyes. Recent research has developed negative outlooks from college Professors on students using cell phones in their classroom, while also studying the effects that technology has on family bonding time. In order for this study to be successful, researchers must sit on a college campus one day and watch to see how many students walk to class on their phones to avoid communication with one another. Researchers must also study a family participating in their daily routines and see how much face-to-face interaction they have with each other or how much interaction they have with their cell phones instead. The Procedures to be Performed: An electronic survey, of 25 questions, will be shared to my Facebook. The participants will be Marshall University students and Facebook friends 18 years and older. The Risks and Potential Benefits of the Research: There is no risk or potential benefit to the research participants as the survey is online and completely anonymous.
