The impact of the Conservation International Indonesia’s on the sustainability of coffee farmers’ community in Dairi Regency, North Sumatera Indonesia

This capstone paper discusses and analyzes the impact of Conservation International Indonesia’s work for the coffee farmer’s community in Dairi regency, North Sumatera, Indonesia. The goal of this research is to study how this international organization’s efforts in Indonesia impacts community lives. This paper reviews research and resources including my own experiences, globalization, sustainable development discussions, global environmental concerns, and multiple methods, technologies, and programs utilized in the past, and currently (CII). Also, this paper investigated the perspectives and discussions from expert’s from around the world who bring together under this subject, the issues of economic dependency, international market demand and supply, political systems and the historical and cultural ramifications of sustainable development as documented for the past two decades. The important topic of this paper focuses on coffee conservation and environmental protection and sustainability development introduce to the coffee farming communities and implemented by CII in their program presented in Dairi regency North Sumatera. Ideally, as defined by CII, this program was to benefit the Indonesian government, and coffee farmers and the people. While there were beneficial results, there were also revealed many inadequacies through the programs and project as they were applied to the communities within the time frame allowed by CII. Some information or feedback was revealed through interviews conducted with members of CII and participating coffee farmers. After collating all the data and analyzing the results, this paper makes conclusions and offers recommendations for solutions to consistent problems which have been identified by this study
