The United Nations Commission on the Status of Women held their 57th session on Elimination and Prevention of All Forms of Violence Against Women and Girls in New York in March. Holding historical importance of the largest ever, this gathering of UN officials, NGOs, and their delegates comprised over 7,000 women from around the world. Violence is a worldwide epidemic and one in 3 women will experience sexual or physical violence in her lifetime and the global community is severely impoverished by the resulting harms.
