Ronald Stanley Reinstein was born in Camden, New Jersey. Raised in Munster, Indiana, Reinstein graduated from Hammond High in 1966. He started his college career at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, but transferred to Indiana University in 1968. Reinstein received his A.B. degree in Political Science from Indiana in 1970. He then enrolled at the Indiana University School of Law. While in law school, he served as an Instructor in the IU Business Law Department, clerked in the Lake County Criminal Court, and clerked with the Hammond law firm of Hand & Muenich.
