I spent this past January experimenting with a new process in mixed media painting. I created a water-based solution consisting of glue, acrylic paint, ink, and other media that I poured onto smooth, nonabsorbent surfaces like plastic or mirror and let dry. This technique creates a unique illusion of depth and translucency, especially when the surfaces are built up in layers. I have continued exploring this methodology this semester and plan to have a show exhibiting the resulting paintings in May. The work hinges on an interest in evoking a sense of ethereal presence.
