Analysis of the Pharmaceutical Job Market and How it Relates to Other Medical Professional Careers

I examine two sides of the argument for the outlook in the future pharmacy job market. One side states that because of the over-expansion of Pharmaceutical Doctorate programs, graduate students will saturate the marketplace with the consequence that jobs will dry up. The other side looks at multiple other factors including an aging population, a rising demand in healthcare services, expansion of patient care activities, as well as a fairly steady Aggregate Demand Index, showing that graduate students will indeed continue to find jobs in the future. My thesis states that pharmacists will in fact be able to find jobs as long as they are hard working and dedicated to their professions. I will also briefly examine the professions of dentistry and optometry in order to determine their futures as well. Once again, I reveal these other medical professional careers will have steady job openings well into the future
