This thesis contains the novel, Farpointe, the second installment in a fantasy series titled The Ice Princess Chronicles. The protagonist is a young woman named Shaecia, princess of a land named Sapora, whose magical powers are fueled by her elemental connection to ice. The story begins with Shaecia at sea and dreading what is to come. She is still mourning the loss of her lover but soon discovers that she cannot afford to let her emotions get the better of her or, rather, that exposing her feelings allows someone else the advantage. Sheacia seals away her emotions and vows to make something of the life she has been dealt. With the help of an old sailor, Shaecia prepares for her new life in Farpointe, a land of cold and ice, very different ...
