Abuse of any kind is a horrible event. Individuals are left with physical and emotional scars that can last a lifetime. Abuse during childhood can be detrimental to a person\u27s psychological adjustment during adolescence and adulthood. We sought out to answer the research question, Does child abuse positively correlate with borderline personality disorder? We analyzed 12 studies that compared different types of child abuse and the effects it has on borderline personality disorder (BPD). For these 12 studies the average effect size was (r=.22).
