Contribution au débat sur l'origine de l'entomofaune des îles Canaries, l'exemple des Carabiques (Coleoptera)

Contribution to the debate on the origin of the Cañarían island entomofauna, example of the Ground beetles (Coleóptera). After to suggest some ways of fauna migration between the African continent and the Canary Islands, the author compares the Canarian, Moroccan, Spanish and Central European ground beetles at genera and species levels. The result of this is that a majority of Canarian ground beetle may be coming from the Moroccan Atlantic coast by floating of vegetal debris during the African rainy periods. Another part of Canarian ground beetles may have a Saharan and Sahel-Saharan origin ; they can be arriving with the eastern high wind of this South part of Sahara.Après avoir proposé différentes voies de transfert de faune entre le continent africain et les îles Canaries, l'auteur compare les faunes carabiques canariennes, marocaines, espagnoles et européennes au niveau des genres et des espèces. Il en ressort qu'une grande majorité des Carabiques des Canaries proviendrait de la zone côtière atlantique du Maroc et serait essentiellement d'origine européenne et méditerranéenne ; ces espèces auraient été apportées aux îles par flottaison de débris végétaux lessivés sur le continent au cours des périodes "pluviales" africaines. Une autre partie des Carabiques aurait une origine saharienne ou sahélo-saharienne et aurait pu arriver aux Canaries à la faveur des forts vents d'est de cette bordure saharienne.Carbonnel Jean-Pierre.
