Contribution à l'étude des Cigales de Corse (Hemiptera, Cicadidae)

Contribution to the study of Corsican Cicadas (Hemiptera, Cicadidae). Based upon an examination of the collection in the Natural History Museum of Paris, and on observations carried out in natural conditions during June 2000, we provide hereafter new eco-ethological information on the four cicada species that inhabit Corsica (France). Cicada orni L., 1758 is present from mid-June to the beginning of September in wooded habitats similar to those where this species is found in continental France. Tibicina Corsica Corsica (Rambur, 1840) inhabits fallow fields where no other species were found. The active period for this species ranges from the beginning of June to the beginning of August. Tibicina nigronervosa Fieber, 1876 occupies open and closed high moor areas from the beginning of June to mid-July. One female kept in captivity laid about 370 eggs in 19 egg nests. All but one of these egg nests were arranged in two cells, the remaining one was arranged in one cell. Cicadetta fangoana Boulard, 1976 is the most abundant species on the Island. This cicada occupies various habitats showing no strict ecological preferences. No geographic morphological variations were recognised for this species. One female kept in captivity oviposited 71 eggs in 5 egg nests. For each species, calling posture is illustrated and distribution is provided. The four species are sympatric. Their distribution appears to be limited from the coast to the first slope of mountains. However, it must be noted that central mountains and some coastal areas are probably still undersampled.Un séjour en Corse effectué durant le mois de juin 2000 nous a permis d'augmenter les connaissances antérieurement acquises sur les quatre taxons cicadéens connus de cette île : Cicada orni L., 1758 ; Tibi-cina Corsica Corsica (Rambur, 1840) ; Tibicina nigronervosa Fieber, 1876 et Cicadetta fangoana Boulard, 1976. Des précisions, ou éléments nouveaux, sont apportés sur la distribution, l'écologie, et la biologie de ces espèces. L'oviposition et les logettes ovigères de Tibicina nigronervosa Fieber, 1876 et Cicadetta fangoana Boulard, 1976 sont présentées pour la première fois, ainsi qu'une analyse de l'éthologie sonore et une caractérisation pour chaque espèce des biotopes de prédilection.Puissant Stéphane, Sueur Jérôme.
