Inscapes — paysages intérieurs et images de la profondeur : la poésie de Medbh Mcguckian

In Earth and Reveries of Repose, Gaston Bachelard meditates on the reveries of the intimacy of matter, on “the oniric forms of curiosity straining towards the inside of things.” Drawing on this philosophical and literary investigation, the article sets out to explore images of depth in the poetry of Medbh McGuckian. After establishing the relation between the notions of landscape and inscape, it proceeds to show how the poet adopts both an inward perspective based on inner perceptions, and an oniric perspective granting a possible access to the mystery locked in the detail of things. The article concludes with a reflection on poetic writing, since “by getting dreamily into the inside of things, we reach the dreamy roots of words. ”S’inspirant des pages écrites par Gaston Bachelard dans La Terre et les rêveries du repos sur les rêveries de l’intimité matérielle, sur « les formes rêveuses de la curiosité tendue vers l’intérieur des choses », cette étude se propose d’explorer les images de la profondeur dans la poésie de Medbh McGuckian, poète contemporaine nord-irlandaise. Après avoir défini les rapports entre les notions de landscape et d' inscape, nous épouserons la perspective propre à ce que Bachelard appelle les intimités détaillées, plongeant à l’intérieur de la matière pour découvrir un percevoir par le dedans, avant d’adopter la perspective émerveillée définie par le philosophe comme possible accès au mystère enfermé dans le détail des choses. La réflexion portera ensuite sur les mots et l’écriture : en effet, « en allant oniriquement à l’intérieur des choses, nous allons à la racine rêveuse des mots ».Amiot Pascale.
